Latvian heritage owned and managed by returned Australian and U.S citizens. LOCATION Well located in the Old Town on a cobble stoned street in a pedestrian zone where vehicle access is restricted. 100 metres to the bus stop to the airport, 400 metres to the central train station and the international bus terminal. Directions
| Bus: | There is an airport bus that starts around 7am and finishes round 11pm. It departs every 20 minutes and takes 30 minutes to get to the city centre as it does not take a direct route. |
| Parking: | Parking is 200 metres from the Hostel at the National Opera House. 5 lats per 24 hrs to park your car (8,80Euros, GBP5.5, USD8). |
| Sea port: | The port is only about 4km from Old Riga. I recomend that you take a taxi and agree the price of 3 or 4 lats (6Euros, GBP4, USD5.5) with the driver before you start. Tell the driver you want to go to Old Riga and the Audeju Iela entrance to Old Riga. Better to print a copy of our map to show the driver. The journey takes about 5 or 10 minutes and is very direct using only about 3 roads. You will know you are at Audeju Iela when you see an electronics game arcade on the left and a Nord LB cash machine on the right and the boom gates in front of you. Get out of the taxi at those boom gates and walk directly straight ahead. The Argonaut Backpackers Hostel street is Kaleju Iela and the 3rd street on the left that is only about 50 metres from the boom gates. Once you turn left on to Kaleju Iela we are 20 metres on the left. The reception is on the floor above the ground floor. |

| Rail: | The most difficult part with the train station is finding your way out to the correct exit. What will help you is first finding a pizza place called Pizza Jazz that is inside the train station. Then find the Riga Clock that is outside from Pizza Jazz and very tall . From the Riga Clock you will have the station building to your back and you will be facing Janvara and Marijas street. Walk to Janvara street and a little to the left and you will find an underpass to get you to the other side of the road. Take the left stairs at the end of the underpass and then on the other side of the road walk along the footpath that takes you over some water. Keep walking along that path next to the road and after about 100 metres you will see the Metropole Hotel on the right. Cross the road separating you from the Metropole and walk to the left side of the Metropole past it. There you will see another underpass bringing people from the bus station and the picture theatre and in front of you will be a small park. Walk across the park and you will then be on the Argonaut Backpackers Hostel street called Kaleju Iela. Then turn right and walk 50 metres to number 50 which is the Argonaut Hostel building. The reception is on the floor above the ground floor. |
| Airport: | The Airport is reasonably efficient and is 10km from the city centre. I recommend that you take a red taxi as it costs more than 7 lats (12,30 Euros, GBP7.67, USD11.23) to get to Old Riga. You can trust the meter in these taxis. Showing the driver a printed copy of our map would be very helpful. The journey takes about 15 or 20 minutes and is very direct using only about 4 roads.
