Hostel Details

Calheta Youth Centre is a quaint traditional Madeira house, which has been adapted to suit the needs of a Youth Hostel. Located on the southern coast of the island, Calheta is the largest district on the Isle of Madeira and its most attractive features are the protected area known as the Laurissilva Forest (world heritage) and the living traditional activities such as the production of bananas, wine and sugar cane.

But besides coming to see the region’s most characteristic features, you should also pack your surfboard, since this is one of the best places for you to practise this sport. You can do your “cut backs” and your “off the lips” here and, with luck, maybe some tubes even. Just be careful with the rocks, or you’ll be watching... sugar canes instead!

check-in from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. check-out until 12 a.m. In order to clean most areas of the hostel, access to the building is conditioned from 12 a.m. to 4 p.m. NIGHT ARRIVALS: From 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. Silence should be kept from 12:30 a.m. to 7 a.m.
