The lighthouse island of Tankar is a tiny island, about 1 km x 0,5 km. It is situated in the outer archipelago, about 17 km from Kokkola. The landmark of the isle is the 27 m high lighthouse from 1889. It is still in use. There is a nature trail around the island. You can free visit the old fischermen´s church from 1754 and the Seal hunting museum. Cafe Tankar is fully licensed
summer restaurant, where you get f.ex. delicious fish soup. The hostel Tankar Inn has 5 double rooms, a modern kitchen, shower and toilet to use.
The historic lighhouse keepers houses can accommodate further 40 visitors.
To Tankar there are 2-3 daily connections from Kokkola camping onboard m/s Jenny (177 passangers) and m/s Jaana (80 passangers. The voyage Kokkola-Tankar is 1 h 30 min. Accommodation on Tankar and the voyage you can
